Has your pooch ever stomped its paws on the carpet after a rainy day play? Or is your kitten one that sheds its fur on a very regular basis? Is your furry little friend still in the process of learning not to do number 2s on the upstairs landing?
If so, you will know just how difficult it is to keep your home clean, especially when you’re little companion just doesn’t seem to get that there are certain types of messes you simply don’t want them to make!
With this in mind, we thought we would share five top tips for keeping your pet-filled home mess-free! You already have top pet insurance for your little one – you might as well go the extra distance to ensure they don’t make a mess all over the place!
-
Wipe their paws
Seriously, us dog owners love the little scoundrels more than anything in the world. And whilst we can teach them not to do their business inside, it can sure be difficult trying to convey the notion that you don’t want them trampling dirt and mud all over your home!
But they are bound to do it anyway, especially when they are partial to a silly outside play on a rainy winter’s day. There you are, trying to relax and then they’re in, tracking mud and dirt all over your freshly cleaned carpet – it’s a nightmare!
Therefore, it’s important to at least give their paws a little wipe down so that in spite of their misunderstanding they won’t make a mess of things. You can use eco-friendly wipes or even keep baby wipes on board – whatever works best for keeping their little feeties clean.
-
Clean their possessions
Your little canine or feline friend may like to chew on their goodies – this is normal. However, these belongings can actually be a breeding ground for all kinds of nasty bacteria, especially when you consider just how often they tend to chew on their favourite possessions.
So, give them a bit of a wipe down here and there, ensuring that any old bacteria that may be lingering on the toy, collar etc. is gone for good!
-
Indoor/outdoor rugs are a homesaver
Indoor/outdoor rugs are designed to keep your home clean from any unwanted dirt, fur or water that may fall off your fur baby. Keep them in convenient locations where they are sure to catch any trailing mess and you won’t have to worry so much about cleaning up after them!
-
Only use non-toxic cleaning products
Toxic cleaning products truly are an outdated concept, and one that can be left waaay back in the last century. If you know these products are harmful for your family, you can safely assume they are harmful for your pets, especially when they typically contain toxins that are simply dangerous for your furry friends to ingest.
So, by making a quick switch to eco-friendly cleaning products, you can be sure you won’t be putting your favourite little animal’s health at risk!
-
Reduce the hair situation
Those cheeky little munchkins can’t help that they shed (and often shed a lot!). But, we hoomans can ensure that if they are going to shed that they don’t do it all over the clean house.
To ensure this happens, you can regularly use a specialised comb to remove any dead hair before it goes all over the home, as well as provide regular baths so your pets are clean, parasite-free and any loose hairs will come off in the process…
