Pregnancy is a good moment in a female’s life after her marriage. It is the beginning of motherhood that each married woman loves. However, it is different for different females of reproductive age. After getting pregnant, some women don’t carry it successfully. And due to certain medical conditions or lifestyle habits, they lose their pregnancies.
As per Dr Poonam Mishra, an expert at a fertility centre in Delhi, a pregnancy loss before the week 20-24 is termed as miscarriage. She states that 8 of 10 miscarriages happen before the 13th week of pregnancy. And when it occurs, a woman can experience:
- Lower abdominal pain
- Mild bleeding without pain
- Vaginal bleeding after miscarriage
- Missed miscarriage – stop of foetus development
How to avoid miscarriages
As a mom-to-be, your pregnancy is valuable for you. And you do not want to lose it at any cost. By following particular steps, you can avoid having a miscarruiage if it isn’t caused by a medical condition. The steps are as follows:
Eat healthy
During pregnancy, you need nutrients in a large amount. So you need to take utmost care of your diet. Ensure it has all the nutritional elements, from carbohydrates and proteins to vitamins and minerals. You should include varied whole grains, cereals, vegetables, seeds, nuts, fruits, pasteurised dairy products, and dry fruit.
However, you need to avoid papaya, pomegranate, unhygienic & spoiled foods, etc. that can lead you to have miscarriage. You can focus on eating foods that contain iron, omega-3 fatty acids, folic acid, and vitamin B12, D, & E.
Avoid unsafe and long travel
You should avoid travelling by two-three wheelers such as bikes, scooters, and auto-rickshaws. A slight jerk can lead you to lose your pregnancy. Further, you should avoid long-journey.
Take proper rest
During pregnancy, you need more rest. You should sleep 6-8/9 hours at night. Further, you should nap or be on the bed for two hours during the day time. Enough rest will facilitate your baby growth.
Leave your bad habits
Placenta, a transparent and delicate organ, connects you with the baby in your womb. This organ allows your baby to receive the requisite nutrients, exchange gas and eliminate waste through your blood. Your bad habits like alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking damages the placenta. As a result, the development of the foetus gets interrupted, and this interruption leads to pregnancy loss. As a mom-to-be, you should immediately quit smoking and drinking just after getting pregnant if you haven’t left the same before your pregnancy.
Stay away from stress
A little bit of stress is good. However, too much stress can kill your growing baby. During pregnancy, you should avoid being anxious and stressed. If you feel stressed, you need to manage your stress level. And for this, you can practise deep breathing, meditation, and count down. Gradually, you will be away from stress.
Exercise safely
Exercising is essential to carry a pregnancy successfully. However, it does not mean you can perform any exercises during pregnancy. While working out, you need to be careful and avoid doing an exercise that can badly affect your pregnancy. You should do light to moderate exercises and avoid the one of high intensity. Walking, swimming, jogging, etc. are the things you can do during your pregnancy.
Conclusion
Miscarriage refers to pregnancy loss. It occurs due to medical conditions and a bad lifestyle. By making a few changes in your lifestyle, you can avoid having miscarriage. You can follow the above-mentioned steps to successfully carry your pregnancy.
